Czech Photographer Martin Stranka is only twenty-five years old and never studied photography academically but it’s likely you wouldn’t know it by looking at this work. And although you may be able to identify his age and experience level in some areas of his portfolio, the bulk of his work is hauntingly cinematic and beautiful. I was drawn to these shots today after seeing friends’ photographs of the snow in the eastern portion of the United States. I remember so clearly how it feels to walk through my Chicago neighborhood at night after a big snowfall. Quiet, alone, peaceful.

I’m taking a few days off to celebrate the holidays with my family. I hope you are with people you love, are traveling safe and eating/drinking well.
